The Challenge

Ayur Integrative Medicine already had something many healthcare practices struggle to build: strong expertise, a credentialed physician, established educational content, and a distinctive approach to patient care.

The problem was that the website wasn't communicating that value as effectively as it could.

The previous Ayur Integrative Medicine homepage before the redesign

The previous homepage: generic messaging with no clear physician-led positioning.

Our initial SEO audit found more than 30 existing blog posts alongside newsletters, podcasts, videos and other educational resources. But the site architecture and technical SEO weren't making full use of that content. We identified issues including multiple H1 headings on the homepage, missing structured data, weak local signals, an automatically generated meta description on an important service page, and gaps between informational content and commercial service pages.

From a design perspective, the goal wasn't to throw away Ayur's existing identity. Dr. Malathi already had messaging worth preserving. We needed to make the website feel more cohesive, medically authoritative and easier for prospective patients to navigate.

The Strategy

We approached the redesign as a patient acquisition website, not simply a visual refresh.

The new positioning centered the practice around physician-led integrative medicine, combining conventional medical expertise with evidence-informed whole-person care.

This was an important strategic distinction. Ayurveda remained part of what makes Ayur unique, but it became one component of a broader integrative medical approach alongside functional medicine principles, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, preventive medicine and mind-body approaches.

That gave the website a much clearer hierarchy for both patients and search engines.

1Redesigning the Patient Experience

We rebuilt the homepage around a much simpler question:

What does a prospective patient need to understand before they feel comfortable booking?

The new homepage establishes the practice, physician, location and care model immediately:

Personalized Integrative Medicine In The Bay Area
Physician-led, whole-person care that blends modern medicine with integrative approaches, built around you.

The page then moves naturally through patient concerns, Dr. Malathi's approach, areas of care, physician credentials, how care works, testimonials, locations, FAQs and consultation CTAs.

The redesigned Ayur Integrative Medicine homepage, full page

The redesigned homepage: a clear, guided path from problem to physician to service to consultation.

Instead of asking visitors to decipher the practice themselves, the website now guides them toward the service most relevant to them. This is the same functional medicine web design approach we use for every integrative and functional medicine client.

2Making the Physician the Center of Trust

Healthcare websites are different from ordinary service-business websites.

Patients aren't simply evaluating a company. They're deciding whether they trust a physician with their health.

We therefore made Dr. Malathi Acharya, MD a central part of the website rather than treating the physician bio as secondary content.

Credentials, training and clinical focus surfaced clearly rather than buried on a secondary page.

The redesigned site prominently communicates her Internal Medicine board certification, Integrative Medicine credentials, advanced training and areas of clinical focus.

This supports conversion while also strengthening the site's healthcare E-E-A-T and entity signals.

3Building an SEO Architecture Around Actual Services

The old website had substantial content, but content volume alone doesn't create a strong organic search strategy.

We reorganized the website around clear commercial topic clusters, including:

  • Integrative Medicine
  • Perimenopause & Hormone Health
  • Preventive & Metabolic Health
  • Integrative Cancer Care
  • Ayurveda Integrative Care
  • Corporate Wellness

Supporting content could then reinforce these core pages rather than existing as isolated articles. The project scope also included deliberate internal linking, unique metadata, structured heading hierarchies and relevant schema implementation across specialty pages — the same technical foundation we build into our SEO work for naturopathic and functional medicine practices.

For example, the Perimenopause cluster can connect symptom-specific content around brain fog, fatigue and sleep problems back to the primary Perimenopause & Hormone Health page. The metabolic cluster similarly connects topics such as insulin resistance, prediabetes and metabolic syndrome to the main Preventive & Metabolic Health service.

This creates a clearer relationship between:

Educational content → Medical expertise → Relevant service → Consultation

4Strengthening Local SEO

Ayur is based in Portola Valley and serves patients across Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Los Altos and the surrounding Bay Area. But our original audit found those geographic signals were largely absent from the most important SEO elements.

We incorporated the practice's location naturally into the new architecture instead of simply stuffing city names into pages.

The homepage now explicitly establishes Ayur as a Bay Area integrative medicine practice and identifies Portola Valley, Palo Alto, Menlo Park and Los Altos within its location section.

The wider strategy combines local relevance with service relevance, allowing the site to build authority around searches such as integrative medicine, perimenopause care, metabolic health and other commercially important services within Ayur's actual market.

5Designing for Conversion, Not Just Appearance

A medical website can look beautiful and still perform poorly.

The redesign therefore focused heavily on the path from first visit to consultation. We improved:

  • Clearer service navigation: Visitors can quickly identify the type of care relevant to them.
  • Stronger calls to action: Consultation CTAs appear at natural decision points rather than being isolated on a contact page.
  • Trust visibility: Physician credentials, reviews, patient feedback and medical positioning are surfaced throughout the experience.
  • Patient-focused messaging: Pages explain who the service is for before going deeply into clinical concepts.
  • Mobile usability: The redesign prioritized a cleaner experience for visitors researching the practice from their phones.
  • Focused landing pages: High-value services now have dedicated pages instead of forcing every visitor through generic service content.

The result is a website designed around the actual decision process of a private-pay integrative medicine patient — the same landing page optimization principles we apply across every wellness client's site.

The Result

Ayur now has a much stronger digital foundation for both organic and paid patient acquisition.

The live site presents the practice immediately as physician-led integrative medicine in the Bay Area, makes Dr. Malathi's medical authority prominent, organizes services around clear patient needs and gives visitors multiple logical paths toward booking a consultation.

Just as importantly, the redesign created an architecture that can continue growing.

New medical articles no longer need to exist as disconnected blog posts. They can be added strategically to Perimenopause, Metabolic Health, Cancer Care, Integrative Medicine and other topical clusters, strengthening the corresponding commercial pages over time. The original project plan was specifically structured around this pillar-and-supporting-content model.

And because the site was built with future patient acquisition in mind, dedicated service pages can also serve as the foundation for targeted Google Search campaigns instead of sending paid traffic to a generic homepage.

What We Delivered

For Ayur Integrative Medicine, Wellness Practice Marketing combined website design with the patient acquisition strategy behind it:

Website redesign + conversion optimization + SEO architecture + local SEO + physician authority positioning + service page development + internal linking strategy + technical SEO improvements.

The objective wasn't simply to make the website look newer.

It was to make it immediately clear who Ayur helps, who is providing the care, what makes the practice different, where it operates, and what a prospective patient should do next.

That is the standard we use when building websites for functional medicine, integrative medicine and other healthcare practices — the same approach behind our integrative medicine marketing services.
